If I Could Fly

HELLOWEEN - If I Could Fly

Released on: 2000-09-04

The German metalheads decided, after the sensational success of their last album “Better Than Raw” (German chart position 16) and the highly successful support tour for Iron Maiden, to take a rather long break which was only interrupted by the “Metal Jukebox” cover version album. This was the last album for Castle Communications and the guys were, due to their success, able to seek a new label at their own pace. Nuclear Blast won the battle in the end and the band were free to concentrate solely on the recording of their new album, “The Dark Ride”. The new album, which was recorded at the Derris Studios on Tenerife, flaunts the typical Helloween trademarks and will leave no fan disappointed. Together with producer, Roy Z. (Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford) an album has been created which will set the standards for power metal much higher than before and is sure to shock competitors in the genre.“If I Could Fly” is a taste of the album and probably the most impressive ballad ever written by the guys from Hamburg. Rarely have we witnessed Andy Derris sing so emotionally as on this potential hit which is sure to be the song with which a traditional metal band will once again receive massive radio airplay. Even the major TV channels will not be able to escape the clutches of this song. For this reason a videoclip will be released for “If I Could Fly” which will undoubtedly surprise a lot of people.
