Schwarzmetall is not dead
Etwas Gutes hat es ja, dass sich Frontpanda ABBATH vor einigen Jahren von IMMORTAL getrennt hat – denn nun kommen Fans in den Genuss von gleich zwei Bands, die das Erbe des norwegischen Black Metals weitertragen. Zwar hat Abbath sich ein komplett neues Line-Up für sein zweites Soloalbum zurechtgelegt, an seinem klassisch markanten Gekrächze, das seit den Neunzigern durch die Hallen von Schnee und Eis tönt, ändert das aber gar nichts. Mit einer Prise NWOBHM und erstaunlich eingängigen Momenten und melodischen Gitarrensoli heizt „Outstrider“ voran und klingt modern ohne dabei die Wurzeln des Schwarzweißhelden zu vernachlässigen oder an schrabbelnder Durchschlagskraft zu verlieren. Zudem gibt‘s bei ABBATH wie immer einen Grund, sich auf den Winter zu freuen, denn im Frühjahr 2020 schwingt er sich gemeinsam mit seinen Landsleuten 1349 und der Supergroup VLTIMAS auf Tour auch in unsere Gefilde.
