While on their last album “Commandment” SIX FEET UNDER
created the commandments of death metal, this time around they are playing with the rituals of death. “Death Rituals” is their eighth studio album, and it shows king growler Chris Barnes and his men on the way back to old virtues: lead-heavy grooves, evil riffs, mean solos and obviously the unmistakable, animal-like voice of the dreadlocked frontman make for a headbanging experience of the first degree. You can tell that the Floridians took more time to record “Death Rituals” than they usually do. The songs are better arranged, structured in a more dramatical manner, thus getting to the point quicker and more effectively. Best example: “Seed Of Filth”, which has got what it takes to become a new classic in the band's repertoire. Even the weakness in sound of the last few albums has been left behind thanks to Chris Carroll (producer), the world-reknowned Morrisound Studios (CANNIBAL CORPSE, DEATH), Toby Wright (mix, SLAYER, IN FLAMES, FEAR FACTORY a.o.) and Alan Douches (mastering, HATEBREED, MASTODON a.o.). With “Death Rituals” SIX FEET UNDER will further strengthen the newly found momentum generated by their excellent shows at various European festivals last summer (With Full Force, Summer Breeze, etc.), guaranteeing a high chart entry. Not for nothing they have become an unalterable institution within the death metal scene with the most loyal fan base any band could possibly wish for.
