Top 10 band SUBWAY TO SALLY – their album "Engelskrieger" ("Angel's Warrior") managed to enter position 9 of the German Media Control Charts in 2003 – is back with new single and new album: Besides single "Sieben" (="Seven"), due on July 18th, longplayer "Nord Nord Ost (="North North East") sparkles in full splendour now. If you didn't like predecessor "Engelskrieger" because it was too harsh, cold and modern, you'll love the new epos of the seven musicians from Potsdam, Germany. In cooperation with the film orchestra Babelsberg, SUBWAY TO SALLY created a musical and poetical very appealing record, featuring the main themes fire & ice and bethinking on old, strong values. Although still having a modern touch, the music features the embosomed medieval melodies everywhere: The emotional 'Schneekönigin' (='Snow Queen') melds bagpipes with classical arrangements, single 'Sieben' gets you with a more than catchy main melody and instrumental 'Lacrimae '74' shows up with romantic stringed instruments of earlier days. But also the tragic 'Feuerkind' (='Fire Child'), the pushing 'Feuerland' (='Fire Land'), the winking 'Das Rätsel II' (='The Riddle Part II' – actually a riddle about the band itself) and the wonderful blooming 'Eisblumen' (='Ice Flowers') keep a lot of highlights ready for the listener. All in all a SUBWAY TO SALLY album for every fan and adorer of diversified German rock music. All in all, about 40 instruments can be heard on the album: besides the classical rock instruments guitar, bass & drums, violins, violas, celli and contrabasses are featured as well as different hurdy-gurdies and bagpipes, flutes, shawms, trumscheit, renaissance lute and santur (dulcimer). In addition miscellaneous programmings and choirs arranged for three voices complete the complex production. SUBWAY TO SALLY are a phenomenon. Founded 1992, the septet from Potsdam, Germany, won an large fan base within a very short time by playing uncountable live-gigs and releasing excellent albums.
