Folk Metal

Folk Metal is similar to Viking Metal, there are no clear separations. But with the addition, Folk was founded in England. In 1991 the album „Wayward Sons Of Mother Earth" from Skyclad was born, which contains both Folklore and Thrash Metal. The lyrics of Folk Metal are about legends, traditional songs or poems. The instruments used are typical: flute, tymbal, percussion section and more. The music often makes the followers celebrate rompishly. Bands like Korpiklaani, Finntroll and Primordial play Folk Metal in their own way by using a lot of Folk, while Viking bands prefer the Metal aspect. Successful modern age bands like Subway To Sally and In Extremo name their music Medieval rock.
