Dark Wave

Dark Wave came into existence at the end of the 1970s and has its roots in Post-Punk. Sad, dark and intense music are characteristic. Joy Division and The Cure are probably the most well-known Dark Wave bands. This genre contains different styles like Electro, Gothic, Neofolk and Cold Wave. Within a few years Dark Wave became a world wide attitude of life. In the mid 80s the movement was on its summit and Dark Wave became important in the early 90s, especially for Germany and the West Coast of the United States. The Movement was called Doom & Gloom, whose follower exposed as Waver. As a result the first Goths arose.
Because of the huge splitting of the different Wave genres, Dark Wave lost its meaning in the music scene more and more.
