As soon as the two youngest members walked across the high school graduation stage this past year, TEXAS IN JULY charged headfirst into living out their dreams full-time, starting with a European headlining tour, a tour throughout Canada with For Today and the massive Motel 6 Rock Yourself To Sleep Tour with the labelmates We Came As Romans. The Ephrata-based band continued their non-stop schedule in Spring when they joined August Burns Red, Set Your Goals and Born of Osiris on tour, followed by the 2011 Take Action Tour with Bayside, Silverstein, Polar Bear Club and The Swellers.
TEXAS IN JULY’s sophomore full-length album, “One Reality”, was recorded in Hadley, MA with producer Zeuss [Hatebreed, Shadows Fall] last winter and takes their signature sound to the next level of intensity with wider guitars, technical yet to the point drumming plus a focus on improved song structure.
“We loved working with Zeuss, he had a very old school natural way of doing everything and we felt strong about what he had to offer,” states vocalist Alex Good. “He is a great producer and we were very pleased to have him be a part of the record. I think the biggest thing for us on the new record is that we finally stepped out of our boundaries a little bit, we broke a few rules, and really went for something brand new.”
Bassist and main lyricist, Ben Witkowski elaborates, “We put a lot of time into making sure that the transitions in the songs were crisp and that the vocal placements weren't just thrown into the written music. We worked as one big team writing this album to make sure that everything blended really well.”
Adam Gray’s exceptional, hard-hitting drumming and flawless transitions drive the album forward and showcase the musicianship of his fellow bandmates. Good’s signature screams of aggression shine through at the forefront, perfectly complimented by the intricate, staggering arpeggios and ongoing dueling riffs of guitarists Chris Davis and Christian Royer. Witkowski’s energetic bass lines bring the band’s sound together, bringing the punch and groove of a pop-punk band, while staying true to their heavy roots.
By attacking the heartbreak of deceit and embracing the optimism of love, TEXAS IN JULY unleashes an emotional lyrical fury, heavier and more intense than ever before. “One Reality” captures the process of moving forward, moving on, and growing as an individual. The album charges forward with a constant sense of urgency and aggression, passionately explaining the importance of following the path that you believe in, in order to make the most out of life and the one chance you have to become who you truly want to be.
