Find more ISKALD
By far their most epic album to date, which contains six long masterpieces, each with different lyrical themes. Ice-cold melodic black metal from the very north of Norway!
From the BLAST! magazine:
Two winters has passed since the release of The Sun I Carried Alone, Iskalds previous record that saw the light of day in February 2011. As all their releases, this as well received critical acclaim and great feedback from fans all over the world. For two years, they have been writing their latest epos. Finally, on the third winter, they return with their fourth full-length effort Nedom og Nord.
Iskald still sounds as fierce, cold and intense as before, but with even more massive guitars, aggressive bass-lines, complex drumming and harsh vocals.
Nedom og Nord is by far their most epic album to date, containing six long masterpieces, each with different lyrical themes. This is their first Norwegian entitled album, in which half of the lyrics are based on their mother-tongue. And finally, their self-titled song Iskald was finished and put on the new record. It's a monumental hymn dedicated to the surroundings and people of their home; Nordland.
Nedom og Nord is their tribute to the northern parts of Norway, with the arctic surroundings that has always a part of their lives. In both a good and bad way.
Comments drummer Aage Krekling:
It's has been a long and hard working process to get this record realized, but in the end it turned out as we hoped for. We are extremely satisfied with Nedom og Nord and believe it is our best album to date. After the last album we talked about trying something new, both music and production wise. We wanted to focus more on the feeling and mood in our songs, without losing our defined expression. We did not focus too much on the technical elements and wrote longer and more atmospheric songs.
In order to find the perfect sound they decided to look away from previous works and build up the sound from scratch. They used their new material as a reference in order to get the best out of the songs and to bring forth all new elements and details that these songs provides.
I believe these six tracks contains more soul and character that before. At the same time the songs can be described as more complex and studied. The recordings where done all by ourselves in our own studio in Bod. This worked out better than expected and the tracking was the easiest ever done. We managed to define our new sound early on, and with the help of Studio 210 once again I believe we have crafted out some really fresh and awesome sounding black metal that should appeal to every fan of the genre.
Iskald is aiming for the top with the release of their new masterpiece. They have no doubt grown a lot throughout their career and have finally managed to develop their sound into perfection.
We welcome you all Nedom og Nord.
