1998’s debut album of Norwegian old-school sadistic black metal, featuring Nattefrost.
Carpathian Forest from Norway formed in 1990. They began their recording career with the cult demo ‘Bloodlust & Perversion’ in 1992. Since then the band have recorded several albums, and have also become a class, if unpredictable, live act, as demonstrated on their recent DVD release ‘We’re Going to Hollywood for This’. The band has toured extensively in Europe and also the US.
They are one of the earlier purveyors of the Scandinavian black metal scene and have always embraced their old school roots. The band are also well known for their lyrical content; a blend of Satanism & sadism.
‘Black Shining Leather’ was the band’s debut full-length album from 1998 after the ‘Through Chasm, Caves & Titan Woods’ EP brought them storming onto the scene in 1995. Since then, Carpathian Forest has risen to true cult status with each subsequent album.
‘Black Shining Leather’ includes a unique rendition of ‘A Forest’ by THE CURE and this album features drum work by Lazare of Solefald. Mainman Nattefrost has since also enjoyed success with his solo-project (also named Nattefrost), releasing 2 albums to date.
