How the heavy metal legend jammed the "social network" Twitter!
Yesterday the news spread like a wildfire all around the world. A Twitter user in Turkey wanted to publish a post about his admiration for the German metal band "ACCEPT". He used the words "Accept pwnz". The consequence was that the Twitter user named "pwnz" suddenly was the follower of the Turkish guy. So by this accident he discovered a bug that caused that millions of Twitter users temporary lost all their followers. The counter was just a reset by Twitter.
The aftermath was that for some hours every Twitter user had the option to pimp his followers with celebrities - without their approval. So many well-known names and companies had been followers of foreign accounts involuntary.
The immediate reaction of Twitter was the reset of all follower lists. Stars who intense use the social network had been shocked. For example Ashton Kutcher who had about a million followers: The "Daily Telegraph" wrote that Demi Moore's husband twittered: "Twitter was hacked by a Turkish guy. Haha, I've got 0 followers."
Der Spiegel (one of the most important German magazines) wrote: German metal band caused Twitter-chaos. CNN, the "New York Times", the "Financial Times", BBC World and over hundred other of newspaper homepages reported about this story. So did the prestigious UK magazine "THE INDEPENDENT": "It's Twitterpocalypse! A high tech hacker is responsible for the biggest chaos in the world of social networks. He unleashed a chain reaction that concerned over 100 million Twitter users. It's called Twitterpocalypse or Twittergeddon!
Did we already mention that ACCEPT will release their new album called "Blood Of The Nations" in September 2010? That they're touring through Europe at the moment? That they will support AC/DC in Hannover and Stuttgart? That their new video "Teutonic Terror" is now on Youtube? And that the title of the new video fits with the crazy Twitter story?
