DVD on the way

2005-03-17 - Sweden's SOILWORK have announced plans to release a DVD to celebrate the group's 10-year anniversary. &quot;We'll film some of the upcoming shows and add a lot of backstage/tour bus footage that we have collected through the years,&quot; vocalist Bj&ouml;rn &quot;Speed&quot; Strid writes on the group's web site. &quot;I think our dear bass player will get his own section...&quot;<br>Regarding the present status of the band's fill-in drummer, Dirk Verbeuren (SCARVE), Strid says, &quot;we'd like to see hime as a permanent drummer since he's such an close friend and a kick-ass drummer, so we really want to proceed with him...&quot;<br><br>As previously reported, SOILWORK's latest CD, &raquo;Stabbing the Drama&laquo;, entered the Finnish album chart at position No. 19. It debuted at No. 14 in the band's home country, Sweden, where the band's previous CD, 2003's &raquo;Figure Number Five&laquo;, opened at No. 59.<br><br>&quot; Speed&quot; has also posted the following comment on the lack of guitar solos on the album:<br><br>&quot;I saw this question regarding the solos: I do understand your point and that you've wondered where the solos went... For SOILWORK it's really a matter of transformation, we always work with the melodies but it usually turn out in a different shape on each album (in a very natural way), it's not a matter of broaden the fanbase, it's matter of doing what we like. The melodic vocals has taken over some of the guitar melodies and we feel that there's no reason for us to add a solo just because. We really focus on capturing the essence of the song itself&#8230; Hope you understand. There are some people asking about tabs, I will make sure that this will happen a.s.a.p! I will kick Ola's butt and make him nail down those shreds on paper...<br><br>About European dates: Our first tour will be in the States and when the tour is finished we're in the month of may and then the festivals start, so it might take a while before we tour Europe... I would say that this would happen sometime in September/October.
