2001-08-29 - SAVATAGE ANNOUNCES SECOND LEG OF POETS AND MADMEN TOUR
With three tours already under their collective belt for 2001, Savatage will mount part two of the “Poets and Madmen” U.S. tour beginning in early September.
“We’re excited to finally see our fans on the West Coast,” said keyboardist/vocalist Jon Oliva. “It’s been a long time coming. We had a great response when we played the Eastern part of the country, and now we’re anxious to play for everyone else.”
Savatage has just completed a South American run, which was preceded by a European tour with Judas Priest, and the first leg of the U.S. tour. “Everything has been terrific so far,” said guitarist Chris Caffery. “It’s been a couple years since we toured, but it’s obvious that our fans haven’t lost any of their enthusiasm for Savatage.”
Since the April 17 release of “Poets and Madmen” on Nuclear Blast Records, the group has debuted two new members – singer Damond Jiniya and guitarist Jack Frost – to rave reviews. Bassist Johnny Lee Middleton and drummer Jeff Plate complete the band’s line-up.
“I’ve seen all the Savatage lineups, but I must say that this was the most energetic and satisfying Savatage show I’ve seen. The additions of Damond Jiniya and Jack Frost have…raised the Savatage show to near mythical heights.” – KNAC.com
