the limo incident

02.06.2002 - News of “the limo” incident is starting to spread. The band played to a packed house at North 6 in Brooklyn, NY, but the performance was less than stellar. Apparently, the bands wanted to go into Manhattan for the afternoon. Soilwork took cabs. Hypocrisy went into a bar close to the venue and saw an ad for a limo company. You can see where this is going… The band hired a limo for themselves and went into the city. They were only gone for three hours (according to the tour manager) but came back hammered (or “wicked hammered,” as George might say). They spent a few hours in a bar in Manhattan but also drank all the liquor available in the limo. Peter Tägtgren was vomiting and incoherent before the show, and it was pretty apparent from the band’s performance that they were hurting from their afternoon activities. We thought that perhaps Universal (because of Tägtgren’s connection with Pain) or Renegade Records (Rhoads) had schmoozed the band to oblivion, but it
seems that it was just the band being irresponsible “rock stars.” Tägtgren has felt bad the last several days (no, not from a hangover) that the band acted so unprofessionally, especially in one of the three biggest markets. It was a momentary lapse of judgment, nothing more.
